Meet - USATF Georgia Association Area A Junior Olympic Outdoor Track & Field Preliminaries - June 9, 2012

DIRECTIONS: I-20 West From Atlanta to Hwy 92 Exit. Turn Left onto Hwy 92.  Follow to High School (5-6 miles) on right. Parking is to the Left of the Stadium and More Parking is Available Across the Street. Enter the Stadium From The Visitors Side.

GATE FEE - TBA per location. Maximum of $4 per person. 
USATF Member background screened Coaches/Volunteers) and children under 6 FREE.

EVENT LIMITS: Sub-Bantams, Bantams, and Midgets may enter and participate in no more than three (3) events. Youth, Intermediates and Young Men/Women may enter and participate in no more than four (4) events. Relays count as an event. Entering an event is the same as participating in an event. If you are an alternate on a relay team, it will be counted as participating in an event.

AWARDS: [Attention, Timmy Cole] First through sixth will receive USATF ribbons.

ADVANCEMENT:

Athletes begin the Junior Olympic series with the GA Association preliminary meet and advance based on performance.
  • USATF Georgia Association Area A Junior Olympic Outdoor Track & Field Preliminaries -  June 9, 2012, New Manchester High School, Douglasville, GA
    • An athlete must participate in this meet to advance to the Association championships
  • USATF Georgia Association Junior Olympic Outdoor Track & Field Championships -  June 21-24, Starr's Mill High School, Fayetteville, GA
  • USATF Region 3 Junior Olympic Outdoor Track & Field Championships,  July 5-8, Newport News, VA
  • USATF National Junior Olympic Outdoor Track & Field Championships,  July 23-29, Hughes Stadium, Morgan State University, Baltimore, MD
Area A Preliminary to Association Meet 
  • All Athletes WHO PARTICIPATE (in Area A contested events) will advance to the Association Championships
Association Meet to Region III Meet July 5-8, Newport News, VA
  • Top 5 individuals each event/age group or top 5 Relays qualify.
Parents, please read:
The athlete will participate in the age group determined by the athlete’s age as of December 31 of the current year.  See the USATF web site for the youth age group divisions.

Track Events for the Area A meet, contested in the following order:
  • 80m, 100m, 110m hurdles (start time 9:00am; remainder of events are a "rolling" start)
  • 1500m
  • 4x100m relay
  • 400m
  • 100m
  • 30-minute break
  • 800m
  • 200m
  • 4x400m relay
Note: Not all events are contested at Area A.  For those events not contested the athletes will be given an automatic bye (advancement) to the Association championships.
