Track splits - a useful chart for those who wish to monitor their pace
The Creekview Youth and Cherokee Youth Teams are excited to host you this Saturday! Just a reminder, our event schedule is different from the schedule used at the Sequoyah meet. We will have a coffee truck in the morning and then Get Skewers, Tacos Chingones, and Kona Ice will be available starting around 11 am.
Coaches Wristbands - Creekview/Cherokee Youth Track Invitational
In alignment with USATF standards, we will restrict entrance to the infield to just coaches and the Cherokee/Creekview volunteers helping to run our meet. With all field events accessible from the infield, this is a much larger issue at our track. To manage this we will be issuing coach wristbands, which will be in your coaches packet at packet pick up at the Creekview tent.
Event limits
Competitors may enter a maximum of three individual events.
Additionally, Competitors may also enter the 4x100 and/or 4x400 relay events.
Historically, Alpha Crush does not typically have enough entries to form a relay team. You can also take the initiative and review the "Meet Entries by Event" document (see link below.) On that list you can find others who are interested in running a relay. For these developmental meets you do not have to be the same age division or gender to form a team ... just run in the race based on the oldest team member. If you have questions, ask the day of the meet.
It is a manual process for Coach Matthew to transfer the Meet Selections made by the parents/athletes to "meet" entries. The reports below are updated every few hours until the entry deadline.
With the exception of the first running event, we cannot tell you with certainty when a particular running event will start. The "pace" of the meet depends on the number of athletes competing, the number of heats required, and the ability of the meet hosts to keep things running quickly. This is referred to as a "rolling start"; the next event is started when the previous event is completed.
Having said that, following the meet entry deadline, Coach Matthew will prepare and provide a link to a spreadsheet that lists estimated starting times for each event. These time estimates are based on experience of how long a particular event takes, the order in which the events occur, and the number of athletes entered in each event.
Note the "as of date/time" in the footer of the report.
Estimates are more accurate after registration closes and Coach Matthew has had time to process the data.
Additional Meet Documents [View folder]
"Meet programs" are typical additional meet documents, which lists the section (heat) your athlete is assigned on the track or the flight in field events.
3000m run - start time 9:00 am
USATF Rule 301 - Only athletes in the 11-12 age division (and older) are eligible for the 3000m run. Some developmental meet hosts do allow athletes 10 & under to contest the 3000m. Coach Matthew will only allow these younger 10 & under athletes to compete in the 3000m if they can "properly" run the distance. Note that in cross country the 9-10 age division runs 3000m.
