From the Meet Director

We are looking forward to having everyone out to Etowah HS for the meet this Saturday. A couple of points to bring up first.

The school campus will be busy. There is a state gymnastics tournament going on in the new gym at the back of the school. There is a middle school basketball tournament going on at the old gym at Etowah HS and the gym at ET Booth middle school. Parking will be at a premium, so please let your parents know.

See facility map link on this page or click here for Google map view.

The main parking may be filled quick but there is parking by the baseball field. We can also use the parking at Etowah East. This is the building to the far right; the first right turn after entering the main campus entrance. There is also parking at the tennis courts and softball field which is just south of the track. And if needed, people can use the parking lot at the corner of Eagle Drive and Rose Creek Drive. People can park in the grass along the access road to the left of the track. But they must be entirely off the road and there is no parking allowed on the other side of the road; the trees side.

Of note for those who have not attended a meet here. The full size javelin will be thrown in the field that is across the access road to the northwest of the track. You pass by the shot put pit to get to it from the track.

We will be handing out trash bags and ask that all teams clean up in their general vicinity.

For field events, all will be open for "walk ups" excluding the high jump. The high jump will be called over PA system. Please listen out for the call for certain age groups as needed. For all other field events, the athletes can go get in their attempts at any time.

For those that will be competing in the 4x100 and 4x400, please work to have your teams ready while we are wrapping up the 200M. Once again, if you want a time for the relays, plan on having one of your coaches time it.

Notes

    • Only athletes, background checked and Safe Sport verified coaches and volunteers allowed on the field.

    • Remember that the Alpha Crush registration fee covers your meet entries.

Event limits

  • Competitors in the 8 and under, 9-10 or 11-12 year old divisions may enter a maximum of three individual events.

  • Competitors in the 13-14, 15-16 or 17-18 year old divisions may enter a maximum of four individual events.

  • Additionally, Competitors may also enter the 4x100 and/or 4x400 relay events. Historically, Alpha Crush does not typically have enough entries to form a relay team. But, if you stick around to the end when relays are run, we may find a team to put you on. Talk among yourselves during the meet to see who wants to participate.

List of Running Events

Note about "estimated" times: With the exception of the first running event, we cannot tell you with certainty when a particular running event will start. The "pace" of the meet depends on the number of athletes competing, the number of heats required, and the ability of the meet hosts to keep things running quickly. This is referred to as a "rolling start"; the next event is started when the previous event is completed.

Coach Matthew's estimates based on number of entries and time it takes to complete a race.
